First week in Korea (2019)
Arrived at Incheon airport the old terminal 1 wednesday July 18th. All fine with luggage and transport even though we had to hurry a bit transfering in Shanghai. Took Sas+Asiana this time. Ok but still prefer Finnair when going to Seoul. Have also tried KLM and British Airways. SAS a good no. 2 option.
The first days we have visited family and got delicious food at Halmoni’s house at Shinwol 7-dong in southwestern Seoul. We had a visit at our always loyal and dedicated hair-dresser in Sincheon – Kwontaebok hair-channel.
And one of the recommended doings – Got to the best go-cart track we know of in Seoul:
Next time we’ll ask to try the green Jaguar…
10 minutes walk from the go-carts you can also visit Seoul’s largest shopping mall, Starfield COEX mall near Gangnam. In the shopping mall they also have the coolest library I’ve seen
And Scandinavia present with a shop, and a travel book including Haugesund – Brilliant.
We can also recommend the officetel we’re staying at in Mapo just north of the main river Hangang, and with a brilliant park you can walk through all the way to Hongdae/Hongik – “Gyeongui Line Forest Park”.
PS: Can be a bit warm in the middle of the day.
We will also recommend the officetel we are staying at, Hanhwa Obelisk Apartment, with direct access to subway line 5 – Mapo subway station from the basement. Got a room with a view over Hangang on the 30th floor found through Airbnb
To navigate in Seoul I recommend the “Naver map” app since Google only hold limited travel information.
And no. 1: Get a Wifi-egg on the airport when you arrive. Prebook if possible (www…..co.kr and many others).
Thursday 25th we’re going to Korea University to pick up Martin so we get the rest of the holiday all together the four of us.
